This tour leads you from Cederberg Mountains to Fish River Canyon to Okavango Delta and to Vic Falls. It will give you a great taste of the beauty of Southern African countries. Sip a sundowner at the edge of the imposing natural wonder, the Fish River Canyon. See the sunrise from the top of the magnificent Sossusvlei Dunes. Delight in a dramatic drive through the arid Namib Naukluft to Swakopmund.
The amazing and unspoilt Okavango Delta is one of your next destinations on the trip. Explore this water wilderness and the variety of animals and birds in mokoros and spend the night in a camp in the heart of the Delta. By boat you will be transferred to Caprivi National Park. After spending one night at a camp in the Caprivi Strip you re-enter Botswana to discover the Chobe National Park.
Take pleasure in a boat cruise on the Chobe River that will give you the opportunity to enjoy a close up view of the animals as they come down to drink. Your journey will end at the world famous Victoria Falls. The nights you will spend at camps or hostels.
Day 1: Cederberg Mountains, South Africa
You depart Cape Town heading north for the Cederberg Mountain region. This area offers a variety of outdoor activities. On this first afternoon you spend some time learning about tour-life, the vehicle and equipment. Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2: Gariep (Orange) River, South Africa
You travel north through Namaqualand and head for the Gariep (Orange) River. Spend the night around the campfire, mingling with other adventure seekers on the tour. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3: Gariep (Orange) River / Ai-Ais
In summer an overnight canoe adventure can be enjoyed and in winter you can delight in a day trip to the river and return to the warmth of the camp in the evening. Alternatively, you can spend your time swimming, watching birds and investigating the interesting geographical features that are unique to the Richtersveld area. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Day 4: Fish River Canyon / Quiver Tree Forest
After an early breakfast your journey takes you to the mighty Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon you travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the unique Quiver Tree Kokerboom Forest – a wonderful photographic opportunity. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5: Bushmen / Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe have the chance to do so. This activity is a local community project and all fees are payable directly to the community. Day 6: Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Taking advantage of the cooler temperatures you depart at dawn and drive into the Namib-Naukluft National Park where you will hike up Dune 45 to gain a different perspective of the desert. After this you have the option a guided hike with fellow group members into Sossusvlei. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Optional Activities: Guided walk with Local Expert.
Page: 2 Days 7 & 8: Swakopmund, Namibia A dramatic drive through the arid Namib-Naukluft sees you arrive at Walvis Bay where, if you are fortunate, the resident flamingo flock can be seen. Then it's on to the seaside resort town of Swakopmund.
