What you can expect from this 8 day Delta and Chobe Trail:

Discover the channels of the mysterious Okavango Delta in Botswana, a labyrinth of twisting and turning watery secrets. Gently poling through these winding waterways you can view African wildlife and many bird species.

Explore the spectacular Victoria Falls, called Mosi-oa-Tunya ('The Smoke that Thunders'). Hold on to your hat (and everything else) as you try to tame some of the terrifying white water rapids of the Zambezi River. Enjoy bungee-jumping and other adventures or go on a elephant-back safari.

Day 1: Windhoek, Namibia, to Ghanzi, Botswana

After meeting your guides and group you drive to the border and cross into Botswana and head towards Ghanzi. After setting up camp you meet with a local Bushman (San) community and experience some traditional tribal dancing. There are also some traditional bushman huts that you have the opportunity to stay in for a nominal fee. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 2: Ghanzi to Maun, Botswana

Your journey takes you from Ghanzi towards Maun. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. This afternoon, you will prepare for your excursion, packing small 2-night bags. There might be an optional excursion to the local Crocodile farm possible. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Days 3 & 4: Okavango Delta, Botswana

On day 3 of this African overland tour, you board the big 4x4 truck that will take you in to the Okavango Delta. In high-water season it is sometimes necessary to take a boat to the poling station. You meet up with the members of a local community who will be showing us their homeland.

You spend 2-nights bush camping in the wilderness and, if the water level allows, we will take a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip through the waterways. You will also be going on some nature walks in the hope of seeing African wildlife or birds. There might be the option of taking a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta (time allowing). Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5: Okavango Delta to Gweta, Botswana

On day 5, you leave the Okavango Delta behind and travel east to Planet Baobab. You can explore the bush around your campsite, relax in the lounge by the pool and view some of the region’s oldest Baobab trees. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 6: Gweta to Chobe National Park, Botswana

You travel to Chobe National Park. This afternoon you take an included sunset river cruise, as the African wildlife is best spotted from the Chobe River. Elephants, Hippo, Crocodiles, Eland and many other creatures reside in Chobe so keep your cameras at the ready. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
