Days 14: Maun, BotswanaToday, you travel from Ghanzi towards Maun. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, Botswana, and this afternoon you will prepare for this excursion, packing small 2-night bags. There may be an opportunity this afternoon to visit the local Crocodile farm or take a scenic flight. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 15 & 16: Okavango Delta, BotswanaThis morning you board the big 4x4 truck that will take you into the Okavango Delta. In high-water season it is sometimes necessary to take a boat to the poling station where you meet up with the members of a local community who will be showing you their homeland.
You spend 2-night bush camping in the wilderness and, if the water level allows, you will take a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip through the waterways of the Okavango Delta. You will also be going on some nature walks in the hope of seeing some African wildlife or bird species. There is an option of taking a scenic flight over the Delta (time allowing). Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 17: Gweta, BotswanaYou leave the Okavango Delta behind and travel east to Planet Baobab. You can explore the bush around your campsite or just relax by the pool and view some of the region’s oldest Baobab trees. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Day 18: Chobe National Park, BotswanaChobe National Park is famous for its large Elephant herds. This afternoon you take a sunset river cruise, which offers amazing views of African wildlife along the Chobe River. Spot Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants, Eland and many other species. Keep your cameras at the ready. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Days 19 & 20: Victoria Falls, ZimbabweOn arrival in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, you have time to plan the adventure activities for the next day. Then you can visit the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience the thundering of the mighty Zambezi. Enjoy optional activities, such as white water rafting, bungee jumping, Elephant-back safaris or walking with Lions. Breakfast and lunch on day 19. breakfast on day 20. Day 21: Palapye, Botswana, or Martinsdrift, South AfricaDeparture is at 6.00 am. You drive south through Botswana to Palapye or to the border post at Martinsdrift, South Africa. You will spend the night at a lively campsite. In the evening you can enjoy a typical South African Braai (barbecue). No meals included. |
